Once again, the world wide web got stirred up by the controversial win of Manny Pacquiao last November 12, 2011 against his Kryptonite Juan Manuel Marquez. I myself was also hyped up to write an article again after being a slacker for so many months. So you think Manny Pacquiao really won the fight? Or it was supposed to be Juan Marquez who should take home the belt and the price money? I'm no expert here but I read somewhere that, if you are a champion or a title defender just a mere pose of fighting stance is as good as point advantage already. I would assume that half the world watched the fight and we saw how Marquez fought as a challenger that night. He was supposed to be aggressive to throw punches not just wait for Pacquiao to attack first.
And just today a very sensationalized video of foot stopper trick by Marquez was posted in YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Someone countered it too and posted a video that Pacman stepped on Marquez's foot as well. I wonder why the referee didn't see it? Well perhaps we were all too busy looking at the punches landed on each fighter's face and we didn't notice what's happening down there.
Like any other games, there are certain rules being followed in Boxing and I'm sure the Judges scored according to the rules that's why they gave a majority decision in favor of Pacquiao. In this case winning isn't just about knocking down your opponent. And Marquez as an old time professional boxer should know that. He is a challenger; he was supposed to act like one. This fight may not be entertaining as Pacquiao's previous fights against other Mexican boxers but the thing is he fought it fairly and by that he still have my respect. Marquez on the other hand is a great boxer. There's no denying about that, but whining and complaining doesn't prove anything. What's done is done. Question the judges not the players. They both played their parts.
